619 Violators of the Enhanced Community
Quarantine arrested
CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad Benguet: A total of 619 individuals were arrested in the Cordillera for violation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) which started March 15, 2020.
Of the 454 arrested individuals, 429 were for violation of the curfew hours with 24 cases filed in court, while 25 were caught for disobedience with 10 cases filed in court.
PROCOR data shows that Baguio City Police Office had the most number of individuals nabbed for violation of curfew and 177 for disobedience followed by Benguet PPO with 137, Mtn. Province with 78, and Abra with 37.
Moreover, police conducted a total of 717 operations that resulted in the arrest of 165 individuals for Hoarding, Profiteering, Overpricing of medical supplies and essential goods or items. Mt Province PPO arrested the highest number of violators with 97, followed by BCPO with 67, while Benguet had only one.
All LGUs and law enforcement units have been imposing the curfew hours to force the people to stay in their homes to prevent the massive spread of COVID-19.
Likewise, all chief of police were ordered to strictly supervise the inspection of all control points to ensure strict implementation. “Police will enforce the law as the public health is the priority of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ),” BGen R’win Pagkalinawan said.
PNP PRO Cordillera leadership is appealing to the public for full cooperation and encourages everyone to stay calm and stay home. “We, your police force and other units are doing all we can to protect everyone from this deadly virus, but we need your outmost cooperation to fight this virus,” BGen Pagkalinawan added.
