“Honey Love” scammers nabbed
Two suspects of the “honey love” scam were nabbed while claiming the money from their victim in a remittance center at Marcos Highway, Baguio City, May 21, 2021.
The arrest was made following a complaint from a service woman of the Philippine Navy residing in Dasmarinas City, Cavite and made possible with the joint efforts of personnel of Manila International Airport Police Department, Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit – Cordillera (RACU-COR) and Baguio City Police Office (BCPO).
Based on a report from the Legarda Police Station (PS5), the suspects were identified as WILLIAMS JOHN ANI, 29, Nigerian National pretending to be LUCAS CHAN, a Civil Engineer of South Korea; and INDIRA GEIL VILLANUEVA DUCA, 25, Filipino, pretending to be SHARON, a Korean Service Agent. Both were temporarily residing at Bengao, Marcos Highway, Baguio City.
The Nigerian national posing as “Lucas” allegedly deceived the victim thru chat claiming that he sent her a package containing Apple Laptops, I-phone, watch and cash. Thereafter, the victim received a message saying that the package is already at the airport, but she needs to pay customs clearance amounting to Php 35,000.00.
However, after she paid the said amount to a certain Analiza Fadriga Ellasos thru a bank account, suspect Duca posing as agent “Sharon”, is asking for another amount of Php 145,000.00 to issue a Certificate of Money Laundering, as the package was supposedly detected to be containing dollar bills which is illegal. The victim was threatened to be imprisoned if she will not pay the said amount.
The complainant, already getting suspicious, decided to verify the tracking number of said luggage at the airport and found out that there was no such package sent. She was further informed that it is the typical modus of con artists in the “Honey Love” scam using different social media platforms and/or dating apps.
She continued chatting with the suspects and with the assistance of the airport police, the entrapment operation was successfully conducted. The arrested suspects together with the complainant were brought to Chapel Road, NAIA Complex, Pasay City for proper disposition after a blotter report was done in Legarda Police Station (PS5). They will be facing charges of Swindling/ Estafa (Online Scam) and for violating Sec 6 of RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Kalinga Provincial Crime Laboratory Office (KPCLO) was hailed as the Best Provincial Crime Laboratory Office in the Category B for the year 2020 and the Best SOCO Team during their 76th Founding Anniversary with the theme “PNP CL: Sagisag ng Katatagan at Kabayanihan sa Gitna ng Pandemya”, virtually held at PNP Crime Laboratory, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City on May 19.
With 101 Provincial Crime Laboratory Offices, the Kalinga Provincial CLO under the leadership of Officer-In-Charge PMAJ GINA CLAIRE BIDAURE-BENTICAN was declared the Best Provincial Crime Laboratory Office, and also topped the four contenders as the Best Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) after obtaining the highest rating of 82.3%.
For the Best Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) Team, they were rated according to Forensic Breakthrough (60%); Court Resolution (25%); and Awards/Recognitions (15%) with a total of 100%.
During the event, Secretary Mark A Villar served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, and together with PNP Chief, PGEN GUILLERMO LORENZO T ELEAZAR presented the plaques and recognized all the awardees.
Upholding their Mission, the PNP Crime Lab provides scientific investigation services and other technical support to the Philippine National Police offices and other agencies through fieldwork, scene of crime operations, forensic laboratory service, criminalistics training and research.
Over Php 55.5M MJ eradicated
P55.5 million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed in separate marijuana eradication operations by the joint operatives of PROCOR cops and PDEA Cordillera agents in the provinces of Benguet and Kalinga from May 17-20, 2021. These were on five (5) plantation sites in Benguet and seven (7) in Kalinga.
In Benguet, during their three-day operation starting on May 17, PROCOR cops discovered a total of 8,650 fully grown marijuana plants (FGMP) amounting to Php 1,730,000.00 within an estimated 1,100 square meters in a communal land at Sitio Dalipey, Tacadang.
Meanwhile, Kalinga Provincial Director PCOL DAVY LIMMONG reported that their two-day operations on May 19-20, joint operatives of PROCOR and PDEA agents in Kalinga led to the discovery of 268,400 fully grown marijuana plants worth Php53,680,000.00 and 2,500 marijuana seedlings worth Php 100,000.00 within a total land area of 29,400 square meter marijuana plantation sites in a mountainous area of Butbut Proper.**
