After six months since the onslaught of Covid 19 in the country, the provincial government honored the frontliners for their sacrifices and anxieties while performing their duties even 24 hours away from home and their loved ones while everyone of us are in the comforts of our homes.
On September 14, Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan led the team in paying tribute to the personnel of the Bontoc General Hospital and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management office who were at the forefront of the Covid 19 menace.
“This is to acknowledge your sacrifices in seeing to it that we are well and sound. What we do today may not compensate for your sacrifices but we want to express our gratefulness to each and every one”, he said..
The Covid Dancers, as they were called, who were all in white danced the Covid away and echoed the gratefulness of the province through placards
Assisted by Ms. Leonila Milagrose Malla-ao, the Human Resource Management Officer of the province and the brainchild of the program, the governor handed out Certificates of Appreciation to the honorees.
Dr. Nenita Lizardo, and so with the honorees in other places, returned back the compliments and thanked the provincial government for the recognition of the efforts of the health workers and frontliners.
The message of the governor was well expounded in the tarpaulin that he held at the hospital.
On September 24-25, the team of well-wishers proceeded to the boundaries of the province to give homage to the frontliners thereat., in Ampawilen, Sadanga Mount Polis, Bontoc, Sinto boundary, Bauko, and Kayan West, Tadian where Certificates of Appreciation were also given out.
During the similar program conducted on site, the honorees were grateful for the acknowledgement of the provincial government and stated that they will endure and enhance their activities.
One of the placards held by the Covid Dancers explicitly says it all to the frontliners: “We could not live without you . . . Thank you our frontline heroes!”.
These activities are part of the commemoration of the 120th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary that was conducted the whole month of September 2020. **Roger Sacyaten
