BAGUIO CITY – The Register of Deeds has stepped up its collection of registration fees last year with a total amount of P58,167,839.73 as compared to P53,765,958.09 collected in 2015 showing an increase of P4,401,881.64.
These comprise fees for transfer of realty including sales, donations, extra-judicial settlements, court orders and other modes of transferring ownership, annotations of release of mortgage, instruments subject to annotations and requests for issuance of certified true copies of titles of documents and others.
Also included are registration of chattel mortgages and registration of unregistered lands.
In its report, the Register of Deeds headed by lawyer Rodil Rivera, issued 2,150 transfer certificates of title in 2015 or 28 more than the 2,112 issued in 2016.
In terms of original certificates of title, the office registered 67 titles more last year with a total of 228 as compared to 161 titles in 2015.
The report reveals that the judicial forms issued by the Register of Deeds are accountable forms printed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas with similar security features like water marks found in paper currency.
It points out that the office continues to safeguard the integrity of land titles issued under the torrens system in harmony with the Land Registration Authority’s computerized system.
