In Mankayan, Benguet another invasion for our resources is being conducted. The soldiers to enforce being the local authorities, and the ones who made it even possible for the event, the politicians behind the scenes. Again, it falls to the people to defend their homes as they form whatever barricades they could against their own Filipinos in uniform, following their master’s bidding.
As more of this blatant extraction of our resources by foreign companies, disguised as development and progress, become more and more common, the sooner that we should all realize the need for the unity of the people. It is not the police who will stop these greedy corporations from entering our lands but the people themselves, the ordinary Filipinos who stand to lose everything when the environment is torn apart and the consequences befall only them.
All forms of divisions are needless in the face of corporate machines that seek profit and ravage our ancestral lands.
Should we need more lessons, then we need only wait and let this incident pass us by. The next will come and come until they have extracted all that they can from us. If we need a dystopian society to help us open our eyes, then may it come sooner, for the sake of this nation. **
