BAGUIO CITY– Sadanga town in Mountain Province recorded its first COVID-19 case in the municipality ten months since President Rodrigo Duterte declared the public health emergency due to coronavirus (COVID-19) .
Mayor Gabino Ganggangan confirmed the first COVID-19 case in the municipality recorded on January 7, 2021.
The new case is a 43 year old female from Demang, Betwagan. According to the Provincial Health Office, the patient who is asymptomatic had no travel history and exposure to a known positive case.
To contain the possible spread of the COVID-19 and facilitate complete and reliable contact tracing, Ganggangan ordered that Barangay Betwagan be placed on a lockdown until January 21 or unless cleared earlier.
Individuals shall not enter or leave the barangay except the Municipal Contact Tracing Team and the Municipal Health Office and other personnel authorized by the local government unit.
All public gatherings such as weddings and other similar activities planned earlier which inevitably draw crowds shall be cancelled and prohibited until further notice.
It can be recalled that Ganggangan issued a moratorium of wedding celebrations several days before Christmas in efforts to keep Sadanga COVID-19 free.
