BAGUIO CITY – The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) through NEDA-CAR is now accepting nominations for Outstanding Volunteers this 2021. This year’s Search for Outstanding COVID-19 Volunteers (SOCV) highlights individual volunteers who, and organizations that, offered their services, skills and resources and made significant contributions in addressing the challenges and unprecedented effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Interested parties may nominate individuals and organizations using the nomination forms in these links: Individual Nomination Form and Organization Nomination Form. The deadline for the submission of nominations is on October 15, 2021.The Search for Outstanding Volunteers is an annual event of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) in partnership with the Regional Search Committees chaired by the NEDA Regional Offices (NROs), along with the central office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-NCR) and the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BDPA).
The search aims to identify and recognize Filipino volunteers and organizations and their exemplary performance and promoting the spirit of volunteerism as a way of life that empowers nation-building. Recognition for the Most Outstanding Volunteers is set on December which is the Volunteer Month.
National awardees from the Cordillera include Engr. Andres Ngao-i in 2016, Dr. Joanne Balderas in 2018, the La Trinidad Local Government Unit Disaster Risk Reduction and Management volunteers in 2019, and Ms. Clemencia Lapas in 2020.
According to PNVSCA this initiative aims to (1) recognize the contributions of individual female and male volunteers to the COVID-19 response, (2) promote the experiences and good practices of these volunteers in responding to a pandemic, and (3) encourage the general public to continue engaging in volunteer work even in non-emergency/disaster situations. These are efforts towards the PNVSCA’s vision of a society where volunteerism is a way of life of everyone.
NEDA-CAR, as chair of the Regional Search Committee will spearhead the selection and recognition for the Most Outstanding COVID-19 Volunteers in the CAR. The chosen volunteers from the region will be endorsed to the national level for recognition.
