CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, Sept. 29 – – The City Health Office reported zero COVID-19 case for the past ten days from September 18-28, but the City Health Officer advises the public not to be complacent.
City Health Officer Henrietta Bagayao during a press conference on Sept. 28 warns of a possible outbreak with the continuous influx of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) as well as the high number of people applying for travel passes every day.
As of September 28, there are 139 total confirmed cases in this city with 134 recoveries and five remaining active cases. Of the 139 confirmed cases, nine were ROFs and 22 LSIs. The rest were close contacts of LSIs while others were cases of local transmission.
Bagayao said the local government unit’s 5-pillar strategy, a functional health system in place plus continuing public-private partnership response plans are achieving significant results in the city’s management of its COVID cases.
Tabuk is the only local government unit in the region to have temporary treatment and monitoring facility accredited by the Department of Health and the PhilHealth. A physician was hired to solely take charge of the COVID-19 triage process at the facility. **By Peter A. Balocnit, PIA CAR, Kalinga
