PARACELIS, Mtn. Province – Rough and slippery access roads leading to tourism spots in this eastern municipality will be a thing of the past due to the convergence projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Department of Tourism (DOT)
The DPWH-DOT convergence project is the Cassag-Bacarri-Camparadi-Cawayan-Bruringal-Sinamar road leading to declared tourism destinations such as Makilo Sphinx, Little Chocolate Hills, Waterfalls, and Mabarotbut Mud Spring with an initial allocation for 2021 amounting to thirty million pesos (P30 million).
For the DPWH-DOT convergence project, work is ongoing for the one kilometer two-lane portion of the 20 kilometer road. The contractor for this project is the Upland Construction and Engineering Services.
While the other project is the 1.6 kilometer span of the 15 kilometers Poblacion –Bantay-Buringal road. The contractor is MG Samidan Construction.
Engr. Jonnel Emingga, head of the Construction Section of the Mountain Province Second District Engineering office based in the town, said that the projects are being smoothly implemented without kinks.
“There is no slippage as the contractors and the workers are reliable and hardworking”, he said.
It was learned that minor problems in the implementation stage such as those involving road rights of way are being responded to and resolved effectively with the help of the barangay officials and other stakeholders.
District Engineer Rustom Martinez was discreet in his pronouncement about the continuation of the projects, “Anyway, the started projects are for multi-year implementation which means that the continuation of the projects is assured every year as long as the administration is supportive”, he declared.
With the tourism potentials, the improvements of the access roads would be a big boost to the tourism prospects of the town,, according to Municipal Tourism Action Officer Flora Madanom.
The town is known for the Mabarutbot Bubbling Mud Spring that accordingly contains methane gas, the Ansawang waterfalls and other falls, Nansusu Mound Hill, and its cultural heritage.
Lately, the municipal government launched eco-trail runs and the boating activity to promote the tourism industry of the town.
The town is also known for agricultural products such as bananas and corn and the weaving products referred to as the colorful Bala’dang.**Roger Sacyaten
