The Department of Labor and Employment – Cordillera in partnership with the Department of Agriculture-CAR, National Food Authority and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority – Baguio launched the “Benteng Bigas Meron Na” Program at the Baguio City Economic Zone Authority on Friday, June 13, 2025.
At least 185 employees of a locator in PEZA Baguio were the initial beneficiaries of the program which offers rice at just PhP20 per kilo for minimum wage earners from the private sector.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government for including them, the minimum wage earners of Baguio City, as beneficiaries of the “Benteng Bigas Meron Na” program.
