The senate’s investigation on corrupt, anomalous or downright ghost flood control projects is now becoming just like a circus. Only for show. If this administration is really serious about sending the culprits to jail, then criminal cases should have already been filed by now. There is enough evidence already to justify such as revealed by Senator Ping Lacson and others.
And if this administration is serious about getting back or recouping the billions and billions of the people’s money corrupted by officials in cahoots with auditors, those who awarded the contracts based on rigged bids, and a lot of others, why are there no administration moves to ensure some of the money will be recovered? Such moves can include attachments, garnishment and the like to make the assets of those involved answerable to the economic or financial damages suffered by the government or the people.
But really these have been going on for a very long time already and what the people want is some action, not just a lot of blah, blah, blah. They are so tired already.
With the way this administration is so slowly moving, even if they will be able to secure some convictions, the assets of those answerable would have already been transferred in the names of others or numbered accounts abroad, or corporations in the names of dummies, thus, unreachable. And the convicts by then would already be comfortably living abroad thumbing their noses at us in derision.
Or is it the intention of the administration to just let the circus go on to make those not allied with the present dispensation look so bad but the President smelling like roses even without getting back the money? Unfortunately, that will deliver the message that if you want to steal, then steal big. You will get through scot-free. If you steal small you will go to jail.
In sum, are the moves of this administration—or the lack of it– just to let things blow over and nothing more?**
