The Philippines is a beggar that is why Kuwait, a small country whose citizens were the first to run away to foreign lands when Saddam Hussein invaded it and which started Desert Storm, is diplomatically kicking us around. It expelled and declared our diplomat there as a persona non grata for helping Filipino OFWs in distress, and this was after some talks in high levels where Philippine officials were sort of assured that things are already OK.
The reaction of our government? It was like from someone who has no balls. No less than our Foreign Affairs Secretary sent communications to the Kuwaiti government trying to mollify them. The reason of course is because we are a beggar. We need the jobs in Kuwait for our multitude of unemployed.
What does Kuwait have? Just their oil. As to the quality of its people, as aforesaid, they were the first to runaway when their country was invaded. How about their brains? They are brand new. As is known around the world, if you ever will undergo a brain transplant, choose the Kuwaiti brain as replacement because it is brand new—it was never used.
But Kuwait can kick us around or treat us like s—t.
Are we really that poor to be enduring all of these? Yes, and the majority of our people will continue to be poor as long as we do not have a leadership that can boldly come up with measures that will have the effect of redistributing the wealth of this country held by a few oligarch families to the general populace.
Is the present administration not doing this? No. Not enough. What PDu30 did was to make Lucio Tan pay P6 billion of his arrears at the airport, and to rant against the Prietos because of the Mile Long area in Makati City which is a government property but under their possession (and making a lot of money from it by leasing it out) since time immemorial and because of unpaid taxes of Mr. Donut which is allegedly controlled by the same family.
We need thousands of such actions by the President if Juan De La Cruz were to get his share from the nation’s wealth so he does not have to go and have a menial job in Kuwait or other countries.**
