BAGUIO CITY – The winners in the city’s Search for Best Family Home Vegetable Garden Contest 2017 were awarded plagues of appreciation on Monday’s flag-raising rites at City Hall before officials, employees and guests. They will also be given cash prizes for their feat.
Garnering the top three spots are Teresa Piningeo of Irisan barangay in first place; Jane Pauline Abanag of Lucnab barangay, second place; and Amelia Montes of Pinget barangay in third place.
Coming in fourth is Johnny Balabag of Poliwes barangay while in fifth place is Soledad Umali of SLU-SVP barangay.
Judges are Purificasion Serna and Teodora Catolos of the Health Services Office with agriculture officer Alberto Tomas assigned at the Special Services Division-City Mayor’s Office, as chairman.
Tomas said the search has been an annual activity of the nutrition office for almost 20 years and was incorporated in the city’s nutrition action program.
In this year’s edition of the contest, he revealed that 30 households representing 19 barangays in the city participated.**gaby keith
