The city council adopted resolution number 461, series of 2024, confirming the memorandum of agreement (MOA) entered into by the city government represented by Mayor Benjamin Magalong with the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) represented by its officer-in-charge Executive Director Ricky Arzadon and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Cordillera Administrative Region (DENR-CAR) represented by its Regional Executive Director Paquito Moreno, Jr..
The MOA is for cooperation on groundwater protection and conservation in the Summer Capital.
Through resolution no. 393, series of 2024, the august body authorized the Mayor to enter into a MOA with the NWRB and DENR-CAR for the said reason.
City environment and parks management officer Rhenan Diwas, in his letter dated July 4, 2024, submitted the signed MOA for confirmation relative to the monitoring, appropriation, control, and conservation of groundwater sources within the territorial jurisdiction of the city government, enforcing national laws relative thereto.
In its second indorsement dated July 15, this year, the local legislature’s committee on laws, human rights and justice recommended that the subject MOA be confirmed.**Gaby B. Keith
