TABUK CITY, Kalinga (PIA) — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Kalinga is calling for more applicants from the province to the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) “Pisay” system in support of the bid to establish its second Cordillera campus in Kalinga.
The aim is to surpass the previous record of 308 examinees from Kalinga who took the National Competitive Examination (NCE), the official entrance test to the PSHS or Pisay.
“Increased participation from across CAR will help the region’s strong demand for and readiness to sustain a second PSHS campus,” DOST-Kalinga said.
This is in line with Republic Act No. 12310, or the Expanded Philippine Science High School System Act President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. signed last year, which mandates the establishment of at least two PSHS campuses in every administrative region.
The application period for the NCE is ongoing until November 7, 2026.
Grade 6 elementary pupils from duly recognized schools by the Department of Education with a final grade of 85 percent or better in Science and Mathematics, or belonging to the upper 10 percent of the class may apply.
They must be Filipino citizens with no pending or approved immigration application, must be under 15 years old by June 30 of the admission year, and must have a satisfactory character rating from school.
To take the NCE, applicants must submit the complete application form together with the following documents: a recent one-by-one ID picture, a certified true copy of the Grade 5 report card by the class adviser or principal, certification of proof that the child belongs to the upper 10% of the batch if the final grades in Science or Math are below 85%, and a non-refundable processing fee of P300 for private school students.
Interested applicants may apply online through the link: https://nce.pshs.edu.ph/
Successful examinees will be admitted to the PSHS and will receive full secondary scholarship in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Pisay scholars enjoy free tuition, free loan of textbooks, a monthly stipend, uniform, transportation and living allowance for low-income groups, and dormitory accommodation, if applicable. **JDP/IOS-PIA CAR, Kalinga
