To believe in a politician’s words or actions is already hard enough, but with the recent issues of their faces being plastered on tarpaulins of government projects and even relief goods does not make the issue any better.
We grew up having been ingrained with the feeling of despising anything fake. From clothes to toys, we were taught to value the innate quality of these things instead of their mere names and branding. From time to time, the advertisement is just that good we end up falling for the traps, but overall, a lot of us were taught to look beyond the brand and determine the quality ourselves and decide if we truly want it.
In this nation, saving face and showing face is so rampant. Every “noble” action by someone prominent must have their faces shown clearly for social media and for others to see. It reaches the point that the important matter becomes the visibility of the person doing the good deed instead of that innate feeling of wanting to help.
So many leaders of this nation do not possess that genuine desire to help, but that greed to have their faces plastered, to have that feeling of being seen, recognized and becoming a famous brand.
Like that childhood quality that so many of us were taught, let us despise all things with a fake shell, stay away from it and shun it oblivion. Because a fake look from the outside becomes the more dangerous when we remain oblivious to its actual face and motives inside. **
