A common factor for the people who grew up in in this nation is the boasting of the past generation’s hardships compared to those of the younger people now. A great example is a senator embodying those arrogant and ignorant older people that we have come across in our lives, those who cannot help themselves from berating younger generations. They prop themselves up in front of the younger people and spread tales of their stories as if they were comparable to the famous fairytales we know.
The subject in many of these peoples’ argument contain the aspect of mental health being a path for cowardice instead of being treated as a real issue. ‘Depression’ has become a word that puts a deep scoff in many older peoples’ faces. Unable to ever think of it as something that can ever harm others.
To resort to comparing others only contributes to an already wide enough divide between the peoples of this nation. There is already a boundary made up of the peoples’ class and standing in society. Division based on different regions, and damning of all, the divide between loyalties for different devils in barongs.
This is only one of the many ways to put down the ordinary folks. The divided population as of now cannot stand on its own and perhaps that is how the few who are put at the top by the hard work of the common people want it to stay.**
