LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — The municipal police station (MPS) of this capital town was awarded as the best in the country.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte assisted by Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año and Philippine National Police chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde, awarded a plaque and a banner to LTMPS Chief Inspector Benson B. Macli-ing for being adjudged as the Best Municipal Police Station during the 117th Police Service Anniversary at the PNP Headquarters in Camp Crame on Wednesday.
La Trinidad MPS is among the 28 police personnel and units that have contributed very well in the PNP’s successful war against drug, criminality and rogues in uniform.
Macli-ing, in an interview, said that the award was in recognition for LTMPS’ best practices in community engagement and community services.
Aside from focusing on the war against crimes and illegal drugs and internal cleansing, the LTMPS is also giving priority to having a good relationship with the people of the community.
“We conduct continuous information education communication campaigns in the barangays and maintain a good relationship by asking the people in the community on how we could help and be part of the community not only in the war on illegal drugs and crimes,” Macli-ing said.
He mentioned other best practices of the LT MPS such as the “Oplan Tangguyob” where the police officers use a public address system to announce important advisories and warnings particularly in places of convergence, and bicycle-riding policemen to help reduce traffic congestion and to patrol barangays.
He said the LTMPS will use its P 200,000 cash award to improve station facilities such as the quality service lanes for senior citizens, PWDs and pregnant women; police clearance section and municipal advisory council office.
The LTMPS was also awarded as the “Outstanding Municipal Police Station in the Police Regional Office-Cordillera” during the culmination of the 23rd Police-Community Relations Month at the Camp Bado Dangwa last month.
Aside from the LTMPS, Police Officer 3 Jean P. Pacia of the Cordillera Police Regional Office’s Awards and Decorations-Morale and Welfare Section was recognized as the Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration during the 117th Police Service Anniversary ceremony.
Macli-ing thanked President Duterte for the all-out support he has been giving to the policemen of the country.
The President noted the PNP’s performance in the past two years and committed to promote the welfare of the uniformed personnel and their families. He recently pledged P25-million monthly support to the PNP’s Reimbursement of Hospitalization Expenses Program . His administration is also fully committed to enhance the PNP’s capabilities with the allotment of more than P2 billion for the PNP Capability Enhancement Plan.** RMC- PIA CAR
