Cadaver
On August 12, 2018 at about 6:15 AM, Mr. Dominador Caranza, a garbage collector discovered a male dead body wearing brown t-shirt, black denim pants, and black Nike rubber shoes placed inside a black garbage bag while collecting garbage along Lower Magsaysay Avenue, Baguio City particularly beside New Norman Trading and fronting JMZ Construction Supply.
Responding personnel of PS2 and SOCO led by PSUPT RODRIGO LEAL and PCI JULIET ALBON processed the scene. Cause of death of the victim was due to the sustained stab wound on his right arm pit and two punctured wounds at his back with “AKYAT BAHAY” and “MANDO” written on his chest using a black marker. Likewise, “akyat bhay @ MANDO AKO” “whos next” “your next” “hehehehe” were written on a piece of paper placed inside the garbage bag.
One blue “HP” sling bag containing a pink lighter, two five peso coins, three one peso coins, and a black wallet containing four (4) items– 1 Malaysian Dollar, one (1) 2,000 Indonesian dollar, and one ten Indian dollar– was also in the garbage bag. Identity of the male cadaver is still unknown and was brought to La Paz Funeral Homes, Naguillan Road, Baguio City awaiting autopsy and identification.
Accidental falling
On August 12, 2018 at about 8:30 AM, personnel of Station 10, BCPO coordinated with Tuba MPS for the retrieval operation of the body of Mencio Abol Amitem, 57 years old, married, driver and resident of Pula, Poblacion,Tuba, Benguet who was washed away by the strong current of a canal along Marcos Highway at Lower Dontogan, Baguio City at about 11:30 PM of August 11, 2018.
Allegedly, the victim was carrying pieces of baggage when he was outbalanced and fell in the canal and carried by the strong water current. The incident was witnessed by Judyline Guined Mayamnes, 37 years old, single, and Jennifer Domepnas Luis, 47 years old, married, both vendors and residents of Purok 1, Dontogan, Baguio City who were companions of the victim. Retrieval operations by the joint teams of PNP Tuba, Station 10, BCPO, MDRRMO Tuba, BFP, Poblacion Brgy. Officials and relatives of the victim is ongoing.
Electrocution
On August 11, 2018 at around 11:45 AM, an incident of electrocution happened in Pusel, Amgaleygey, Buguias Benguet. The victim was identified as Kimjay Lesino Atting, 23 years old, single, farmer and resident of Saclalan, Amgaleygey, Buguias, Benguet.
Investigation showed that the victim was holding an umbrella while walking on the barangay road when he was suddenly electrocuted by a live wire of BENECO which was installed along the road. The victim was immediately rushed to Northern Benguet District Hospital, Bekes, Buyacaoan, Buguias, Benguet. The victim sustained burns on his right foot and a fracture on his right arm. He is still confined at the said hospital in stable condition.
The incident was reported by the duty physician of said hospital at around 4:35 PM of August 12, 2018 to the personnel of Buguias MPS.
Alleged robbery with homicide
An alleged case of robbery with homicide transpired on August 15, 2018 at around 1:40 PM, inside 202 Cellphone Pawnshop, 19 Abanao Street, Baguio City. The victim was identified as Lindsay Vallejos Valdez, 22, sales clerk, native of Cabuloan, Urdaneta, Pangasinan, and presently residing at Purok 3, Lower Pinget, Baguio City. The suspect is still unidentified.
Initial investigation disclosed that on or before 8:30 AM of same day, the victim opened the pawnshop and she started sweeping the floor when the suspect/s arrived and they dragged the victim inside. The suspect/s directed the victim to open the vault where the pawned laptops, cellphones, and cash were kept. The suspect/s took from the victim the key of the metal cash box where the cash collections were kept. Then the suspect tied the victim’s feet and her hands at the back with the use of brown packing tape. Her mouth was also taped. The suspect/s took the contents of the cash box. Before leaving, the suspect/s slashed the neck of the victim who was found dead in prone position. After the crime scene was processed, the owners of the pawnshop identified as Julio Fernandez Parayno III and his wife conducted an inventory and averred that their cash collection amounting to Php 87,434.00 was missing. Case is still under investigation.
Accidental death
At about 10:00 AM of August 15, 2018, personnel of Itogon MPS investigated the alleged accidental death of Aries Mamma Piwit, 25, single, small scale miner, native of Lanlana, Agbannawag, Tabuk City, Kalinga, and was residing in their shanty at Camp 5, Acupan, Virac, Itogon, Benguet. The victim was found allegedly unconscious outside their shanty at 5:30 AM of August 15, 2018.
Investigation revealed that the victim went out from their shanty to urinate but never returned until he was discovered unconscious. He was rushed to the Benguet Corporation Clinic for first aid then was transferred to Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center where he was initially treated for back injury but later expired. Allegedly, the victim was hit by a falling rock while urinating. His co-worker, Morris Anchay narrated that he heard falling rocks about 50 meters above their mining camp. Relatives and co-miners of the victim believe that the victim was accidentally hit by the falling rocks.**
