The scenic view will be highlighted in the Kalayaan Trail Run Music Festival on June 9 at the Scout Barrio Grounds.
“It is not how fast you run, but it is stopping where you will be winner since you get to see the scenic view the trail offers. Appreciate trees, plants and the trail,” said Project 7’s Eric Coronacion.
Eros Goze, also of the organizing P7, said that prizes will be up for grabs for the best photo taken during the day-long event that feature a run as well as a music and food festival.
A total of P20,000 will be given to the top three winners in the open category, where DSLR will be used, while P10,000 will be given to the top three finishers in the digital phone side.
“This is something unique as works of the finalists will be put on display at Malcolm Square,” said Goze, a professional photographer.
The best photos will be blown up to the two by three feet images on tarps and will be displayed for the final judging at the city’s heartland. The event is a separate day long activity where the square will be converted into a street café, with musicians and coffee serving booths.
The Kalayaan run is conceived as a three-fold event that will be an iconic serving between February and December, or the Panagbenga and Christmas in Baguio celebration.
“All we want is an iconic event at the middle of the year,” said Coronacion.
The food fest portion will feature 30 food concessionaires at the Scout Barrio grounds who will offer not the run of the mill food. Booths will open at 9 AM until midnight on said date.
Seventeen bands that include The Edralin, Powerpuff Corn with Caesar Salcedo, Gwensi Sante, Uptown and Daluyong, among others will start playing at noon until midnight. Interspersed are comedy shows and deejays playing present hits and music for Generation X.
Coronacion said that since it will be the NBA Finals, the game will be showed on a giant LED walls measuring nine by 12 feet. “Surely it will be an experience as patrons will watch the finals, game four, within the camp, and taking advantage of what we will be offering,” said the former manager of Louis Vuitton Philippines. **PML
