surrender 9 firearms
In compliance with the revocation and confiscation order issued by the OIC PNP, PLTGEN VICENTE DANAO JR, a total of nine (9) firearms were surrendered by the unicipal mayor and vice mayor of Pilar thru their legal counsel in Brgy, Poblacion, Pilar, Abra on June 14, 2022.
The provincial director of Abra PPO, PCOL MALY C CULA and the PMAJ MICHAEL B MACA-EY, the OIC of the Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU) – Cordillera facilitated the surrender of six (6) pistols, two (2) shotguns, and one (1) revolver.
According to the reports of Abra PPO, Mayor Mark Roland B. Somera has surrendered eight firearms, one pistol (Cal. 40) Glock GEN 4, one revolver (Cal. 357) Smith and Wesson, one pistol (Cal. 45) Glock, one shotgun (12 Gauge) SPAS, one pistol (Cal. 9mm) CZ, one pistol (Cal. 9mm) STRBOG, one pistol (Cal. 9mm) MOSSBERG, and one pistol (Cal. 45) ARMSCOR M1911 ROCK STD.
While Vice Mayor Josefina “Jaja” S. Disono handed over one shotgun (12 Gauge).
All firearms surrendered are now in the custody of RCSU-COR for proper disposition.
On March 29, 2022, it can be recalled that a standoff took place in the residence of Vice Mayor Disono after her security aides eluded a COMELEC checkpoint in Pilar, Abra and took refuge in her residence. The incident resulted in the peaceful surrender of 12 security aides of VM Disono and the surrender of 14 licensed assorted firearms.

group visits Betwagan
To gather additional inputs on the ongoing tribal conflict between Betwagan, Sadanga, Mountain Province and Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga, PROCOR Regional Director PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE together with PBGEN JOHN C CHUA, Deputy Regional for Administration; PCOL BENJAMIN DL SEMBRANO, Deputy Regional for Operations; PCOL ELMER E RAGAY, Chief Regional Staff and other key officers visited Barangay Betwagan, Sadanga, Mountain Province on June 11, 2022.
The PROCOR Command Group was warmly welcomed by the people of Betwagan with songs and traditional dances.
As the highlights of the visit, RD LEE initiated a peace dialogue with the Barangay Peace and Order Council, barangay elders, and other local leaders of Sadanga.
During the open forum, they tackled the tribal conflicts between Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga and Betwagan, Sadanga, Mountain Province, and other peace and order concerns in the area.
Another highlight of the visit was the medical and dental mission initiated by PROCOR in partnership with the Regional Medical and Dental Unit (RMDU)-Cordillera.
More or less 500 beneficiaries of the said barangay have availed of the free medical check-ups, free dental services, blood pressure monitoring, and free circumcision services of the RMDU.
Also, they distributed vitamins for children donated by ONE PHARMA.
Aside from the medical-related services, PROCOR also provided free haircut services and distributed 400 gloves to be used in farming and 200 pairs of slippers donated by the Regional Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (RAGPTD), Maezelle Psychotic Metier & Diagnostic Center, and Pasig Bayanihan Lions Club.
Representatives of TESDA also conducted an information drive regarding training, scholarship, and financial assistance they provide to the public while 100 coffee seedlings were given to the community by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist-Mountain Province.
In RD LEE’s message, he thanked the people of Betwagan for their enthusiasm and unending support, and commitment to lasting peace in Sadanga. He also mentioned that through the outreach program, the PNP would be able to strengthen the bond with the people and be of help in bringing the services needed in far-flung areas.
