Criminal gang leader and accomplices nabbed
The leader of a criminal gang and his two accomplices were arrested after selling bulk sachets of suspected shabu worth Php78,200.00 in a buy-bust operation conducted along Purok 4, Lopez Jaena, Aurora Hill, Baguio City in the evening of July 25,2021.
Units from Baguio CPO; RACU-COR; RID-COR; EOD/K9 COR and PDEA- CAR launched the operation that resulted in the arrest of two High Value Individuals (HVI) identified as Erwin Dela Peña Roc, 30; Briggs Austria Balacdao, 29; and a Street Level Individual (SLI) identified as Paolo Julian Cariño Estacio, 29.
Suspect Roc has long been monitored by the operatives for being engaged with the illegal drug trade and theft cases while suspect Balacdao was identified as the leader of the Balacdao Theft Group, a criminal gang operating in Baguio City.
The suspects were arrested after selling 2 bulk sachets of suspected shabu weighing MOL 10 grams with with Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php 68,000.00 to an operative who acted as a poseur-buyer.
Further, during the course of arrest, operatives seized another sachet of suspected shabu weighing MOL 1 gram with SDP Php 6,800 from Balacdao, while 0.5 gram with SDP of Php 3,400 was confiscated from Estacio. The cellphones, boodle money and red Innova vehicle used by the suspects were also seized by the operatives.
Markings and inventory of the confiscated pieces of evidence were done on-site witnessed by Prosecutor Isabelo Oliver Prudencio; Punong Barangay Carlos M Asiatico and Mr. Charles Nikko Limon Jr. of RNG Luzon.
7 arrested in anti-illegal gambling drive
Seven individuals were arrested after being caught in the act of playing “majong”, “pusoy dos” and collecting bets in two separate operations conducted on July 26 and 27.
In North Poblacion, Bucay, Abra, anti-illegal gambling operatives of CIDG Abra and Bucay MPS launched an operation following a report from a concerned citizen about an ongoing illegal gambling activity. The operation resulted in the arrest of one operator identified as Angelito Soriano Arceo, 52; and four bettors namely, Marcos Makape Torres, 68; Precious Torres Declaro, 31; Analyn Figuerres Galicia, 28; Pedro Timbreza Tebia, 70; and Nadhir Astudillo Bermudez, 46.
Operatives seized from them a set of majong tiles, two majong dice, one set of Condor playing cards and bet money amounting to Php1,819 in different denominations. Confiscated evidence were brought to CIDG, Abra for documentation, while arrested suspects were brought to Bucay MPS.
Meanwhile, in Sitio Monglo, Brgy. Bayabas, Sablan, Benguet, two men identified as Charlie Abarico Berbo, 52, and Jericson Barca Abuan, 31, were nabbed by joint operatives of CIDG RFU 14 (RSOT); CIDG Benguet PFU and Sablan MPS after being caught in the act of collecting bets for “jueteng”.
Recovered from them were assorted bills with a total amount of PHP1,345 bet money; legaho/list of results; and pad papers with written numbers and corresponding bets. The suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to CIDG RFU 14 for documentation, while appropriate charges are being prepared against the suspects.
