Support groups and ex-rebels take oath
The Chief Philippine National Police, POLICE GENERAL GUILLERMO LORENZO TOLENTINO ELEAZAR, administered the oath of National Coalition of Lingkod Bayan Advocacy Support Groups and pledge of the former rebels’ withdrawal from the Communist Terrorist Group at Abra Provincial Capitol Atrium, Bangued, Abra.
The ceremony was graced by the Hon. Congressman Joseph Sto. Nino “JB” B. Bernos; Hon. Governor Ma. Jocelyn “Joy” V Bernos; Nathaniel Lacambra, Regional Director of DOLE-CAR; Sangguniang Panlalawigan members; and local chief executives.
The Advocacy Support Groups are composed of different organizations such as Force Multipliers, Women & LGBTQ, faith-based groups, Global PCR, KALIGKASAN, Foreign National Keepers Network (FNKN), National Coalition of Information Technology Advocates for Change (NTCITAC), barangay-based groups, Joint Industrial Peace Concerns Office (JIPCO) and Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terrorismo (KKDAT).
The Advocacy Support Group members are from the different Municipalities of Abra, namely, Bangued, Boliney, Bucay, Luba, Penarrubia, Pilar, San Quintin, Tayum, Tineg, and Villaviciosa.
Meanwhile, through the personnel series of negotiations and with the help of the community, 40 former rebels returned to the fold of the law. To start a new, PGEN ELEAZAR awarded the certificate of livelihood entitlement to the former rebels given by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) amounting to Php 20,000.00.
Further, the Advocacy Support Groups will serve as the partners of PNP to achieve peace through their help and support in government projects and programs in the suppression of any crime especially in the fight against insurgency and terrorism.
Cops seize firearms and ammunition
Intensified police operations resulted in the arrest of an individual for violation of RA 10591 or Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition during the service of a search warrant at Sitio Colocol, Bunhian, Aguinaldo, Ifugao on August 23, 2021.
Joint personnel from Ifugao PPO, RIU-14 and RMFB 15 implemented a search warrant issued by Hon. Pascual D Kimmayong, Presiding Judge of 2nd Judicial Region, MCTC, Lagawe-Hingyon, Ifugao which resulted in the arrest of Johnny Bongayon Chinaman, 58, married, farmer and a resident of Sitio Colocol Barangay Bunhian, Aguinaldo, Ifugao.
During the implementation of the search warrant, found and confiscated at Chinaman’s residence one (1) homemade cal .22; Eighty-Six (86) rounds Cartridge, cal .22 ball; One (1) cal .22 magazine; twelve rounds cartridge, cal .30 Carbine; Eight (8) rounds cartridge, 9 mm, ball; and One cartridge, 12 gauge.
On site inventory and markings of the seized items were done in the presence of the suspect and witnessed by Barangay Chairman Christopher M Bimmang and Barangay Kagawad Patrick L Atluna of Bunhian, Aguinaldo, Ifugao.
Quarantine violators arrested in Baguio
In line with the Inter-Agency Task Force Guidelines under the General Community Quarantine, personnel of Marcos Highway Police Station (PS10) and Traffic Enforcement Unit arrested four (4) individuals on August 19 and 21,2021.
Police officers were manning the Quarantine Checkpoint at Marcos Highway when a Toyota Innova with six (6) passengers driven by Orlie Dizon, 42 years old, and a resident of Don Fabian, Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City was flagged down and directed to proceed to KIA Triage for verification of protocol requirements. In a separate incident on August 21, a Toyota Hi-Ace Van with seven (7) passengers driven by Joe Wilson Alipit, 26 years old, and a resident of Pinsao Pilot Project, Baguio City was also flagged down for verification of protocol requirements.
However, both drivers could not present travel documents and permits to transport passengers in compliance with the existing Quarantine Protocol of Baguio City.
The passengers were released after undergoing quarantine assessment at the triage area while the drivers were brought to Marcos Highway Police Station for proper disposition and a case of violation of RA 11332 and Anti-Colorum law are being prepared against them.
Meanwhile, at Baguio Convention Center Triage, Mary Jane Montecer, 51 years old, and Ausin Bryan Montecer, 24 years old, both residents of Pahinga Norte, Candelaria, Quezon Province were arrested for falsification of RT-PCR results and violation of RA 11332.
Interviews conducted revealed that Ausin Montecer and Mary Jane Montecer have electronically altered their RT-PCR results.
The two were apprehended and brought to Marcos Highway Police Station while charges were prepared against them.**
