The dangers of a revolutionary government as envisioned by PDu30 is not himself but the “killing” of the government’s institutional checks and balances. Already, they are at it by working for the impeachment of the chief justice who is the head of the judiciary—the referee of government and in regards to the acts of officials and citizens. The judiciary is the courts in laymen’s terms. It is the courts that says somebody wronged anybody, and whether or not the wrongdoer should go to jail or to pay damages to the person he wronged. At the highest level it is the courts that arbitrate whether or not government officials—who at times act like they are gods especially when abusing their constituents, the ordinary citizens—are acting wrongly or illegally, particularly in wielding their powers.
Destroy the power of the courts to check public officials or the powerful such as those who have money or those who are considered respectable in communities and what we will have will be tyranny— where the weak and poor, or those who are by and large small people like you and me would be abused by those who are politicians or those who have money or those who are generally listened to.
It is the courts that says somebody wronged somebody and who are committing acts that are against the interest of the community such as crimes. But when those in power could even influence the delivery of justice such as when they could make criminals go scot free, then we are done for.
For the courts could be physically present but when they are not independent from the influence of politicians and the moneyed, or those who otherwise have influence, then they would be practically useless in protecting the rights of us ordinary people.
While PDu30 might want to cleanse the government which might be almost impossible overnight considering our history, once the institutional checks and balances are destroyed then it is those who have the power of the gun who would be ruling us. There would be no Congress to make laws. The law would be anything that those in power would say.
Singapore might be an example of a country that prospered through dictatorial powers but its history is so different from ours. There, there was some benevolence in the hearts of those who were in power.
In our case, the hunger for political power is our national sickness or addiction. Anybody who gets a teeny weeny taste of it would like to keep it forever. For this purpose, they enrich themselves by hook or by crook (read: by stealing our money in government or through corruption) so they could have a war chest to maintain their hold on power.
The end result would be a pitiful and abused populace who would be generally poor.**
