CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) – The city government here is gearing up its real property tax mapping in a bid to improve local revenue collection.
Assistant City Assessor Arnold Layugan said the move would earn the city local government at least P20 million annually through increased enforcement of real property tax
Last year, the city’s real property tax collection amounted to P18,960,331. The city’s real property tax is shared among the local government units with 25 percent for the barangay, province – 35% and the city – 40%.
Layugan said that for this tax mapping operation, they will coordinate with the barangay officials to avoid issues in the past such as some property owners were unavailable during the scheduled operation.
Properties covered include lands, buildings, machineries and other improvements..
The actual real property taxes assessed are explained to owners so that they will understand, cooperate and pay, Layugan said.
The tax mapping teams also educate communities about taxes as the lifeblood of government which goes back to the people in the form of services.
Layugan is appealing for the cooperation of real property owners in the city in this undertaking. ** JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga
