Bontoc, Mountain Province– Beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers (TUPAD) in this capital town received their wages during a ceremonial turnover and payout on April 7, 2021, at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol.
In his message, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra expressed high hopes that the program eased the financial burden of the beneficiaries.
He added that the government is sincere in bringing its services to the grassroots and help improve their living conditions.
DOLE Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Sixto “Popoy” Rodriguez Jr., seconded the pronouncement of RD Lacambra, adding that the TUPAD program is aimed to uplift the lives of the people.
DOLE – Mountain Province Provincial Head Apollo Luspian lauded the TUPAD workers for their diligence while enlisted in the program and encouraged them to render the same performance on whatever work assigned to them.
Mountain Province Congressman Maximo Dalog, Jr., remarked that the TUPAD program catering to the vulnerable and marginalized sectors is one of the government’s commitments in uplifting the lives of the communities.
Likewise, Congressman Dalog assured of a strong partnership of the Office of the Congressman with the DOLE and the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) in bringing services of the government to the community.
The TUPAD Program is funded by the Office of Congressman Dalog in partnership with the DOLE while the implementation is through the Bontoc LGU as a DOLE – Accredited co-partner.
In response, Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey in his message delivered by Sangguniang Bayan member Jerome Tudlong, Jr., expressed the municipality’s profound gratitude to the national government through the DOLE and Mountain Province Congressman Maximo Dalog, Jr. for all their assistance to Bontoc.
Mayor Odsey is elated that the TUPAD workers received their wages as they will use the same in coping with the effects of the global pandemic since their sources of livelihoods have been affected.
Similarly, Vice Mayor Eusebio Kabluyen thanked the DOLE and Congressman Dalog for their unending support in improving the living conditions of the people.
TUPAD is a community-based package assistance that provides emergency short term employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed. ** Alpine L. Killa, Bontoc –LGU
