2 farmers killed in Kabayan, Benguet
Joint operatives of PROCOR police and 54th IB, Philippine Army resulted in the arrest of a CAFGU member in a shooting incident that killed two (2) farmers at Sitio Lebeng, Brgy Lusod, Kabayan, Benguet, on the morning of April 17, 2021.
PROCOR Regional Director PBGEN RONALD O LEE identified the victims as Agustin Sinpoda Ballagan, 59, and Cristiano Sinpoda Ballagan, 43, siblings, both farmers and residents of Sitio Lebeng.
Based on the reports from Benguet PPO Provincial Director, PCOL REYNALDO PASIWEN, identified the suspects, Joel Asingco, 32, gunman, and Abron Asingco, a.k.a. “Lakay,” both CAFGU members assigned at Gumhang Patrol Base in Tinoc, Ifugao.
According to the Kabayan Municipal Police Station (MPS), they received a phone call from a concerned citizen about a shooting incident at sitio Lebeng and upon verification, proceeded right away to the place.The operatives’ hot pursuit operation resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects, Joel Asingco, at Poblacion, Tinoc, Ifugao in the afternoon while a manhunt operation for the arrest of Abron is still ongoing.
Suspect Joel Asingco was brought to Kabayan MPS for proper documentation and filing of appropriate charges.
Meanwhile, firearm used in the crime was said to have been thrown at the Baay river located at the boundary of Kabayan, Benguet and Tinoc, Ifugao.
Initial investigation revealed that the victims and the suspect had a previous argument regarding a land dispute.
P37.3-M MJ bricks seized in Tabuk City
Joint operatives of Cordillera police and PDEA Kalinga intercepted a total of P37.3-M worth of marijuana bricks in a checkpoint conducted at Barangay Lacnog, Tabuk City, Kalinga, early morning of April 18, 2021
Based on the reports received by PROCOR Regional Director PBGEN RONALD O LEE, Kalinga police received a text message from a concerned citizen regarding a vehicle described as Mitsubishi Adventure bearing plate no. NBZ 7232 allegedly transporting marijuana bricks coming from Tingalayan, Kalinga that will pass through Tabuk City.
Operatives then immediately established a checkpoint in Agbannawag-Bulo junction.
During the checkpoint, as the spotted target vehicle approached, it suddenly turned left to avoid the operatives manning the checkpoint. This prompted the operatives to initiate a pursuit operation that ended in Brgy Lacnog, Tabuk City, where they found the abandonned vehicle. Eight sacks containing 311 bricks of alleged marijuana leaves weighing 311 kgs with an estimated value of Php 37,320,000.00 were found stashed inside the vehicle.
All the seized marijuana bricks were inventoried onsite in the presence of a Barangay Kagawad and a media representative. These were brought to Tabuk CPS for proper documentation and endorsement to Kalinga Provincial Crime Laboratory Office (KPCLO) for proper disposition.
Further, report from the Kalinga PPO Provincial Director, PCOL DAVY VICENTE LIMMONG, identified the driver of the vehicle as Sabado Guimba, a resident of Sitio Pakak, Brgy Agbannawag, Tabuk City, while the other male passenger is still unidentified.
2 caught in anti-colorum operation
In a joint anti-colorum operation by the Baguio police and Land Transportation Office (LTO) operatives, two violators were apprehended along Ben Palispis Highway, Baguio City on the evening of April 16, 2021.
In a report submitted to the PROCOR Regional Director PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, the violators were identified as Edmar Caluag Decena, 28, driver, a resident of Caloocan City, and Jose Francisco Jurado, aka Jury Jurado, a dismissed cop and the one who previously posted on social media (Facebook) offering transportation even without proper travel documents in and out of Baguio City for a certain amount..
During the operation, operatives flagged down a black Mitsubishi Adventure wagon with three passengers aboard bound for Manila and driven by Decena without proper travel documents.
Upon verification, the driver failed to show a certificate to operate a vehicle for public convenience and that the occupants have paid fare without any issued tickets as proof of payment. He was issued a Temporary Operator’s Permit and was cited for with violation of anti-colorum rules.
The carpooling or car rental operation was monitored on social media and verified to be ferrying passengers without any permit, which also deceived passengers by falsely claiming the PNP will help them process their documents.
The vehicle was impounded at the LTO District Office at Pacdal, Baguio City.**
