As prices increase and the purchasing power of the common Filipino decreases, it is the poor who bear the brunt of the hit. Across the nation, the purchase of basic goods and services become a stinging hit to our wallets. Even street foods, the cheaper alternatives to satisfying our stomachs after a day’s work is getting expensive.
As both the president and vice president round the nation, people still ask for pictures and proudly post them on social media. Everywhere they go, they are treated like celebrities despite the job they had done to alleviate the crisis upon the nation.
It is time we stop worshiping politicians, they have done little to none to deserve this sort of reverence and they never will. In a religious country, you would have expected this sort of worship reserved only for the almighty. And these people are the very opposite of what God had decreed we act.
As politicians visit communities, there should be less of pictures but more of the questions that the people need answers to.
Let us remember the scandals that have been brought out. The corruption that took away so much from the people. And they even have the audacity to walk out of their houses after the job they had done, how much they stole.
As they smile on photos, the ordinary people pay the price for their mistakes. They don’t deserve to be worshiped nor revered, but answer for all that had been done towards their citizens. **
