What makes PDu30 tick? It is his perceived care for the welfare of the ordinary people. Whether he really cares does not matter. For in politics, it is perception that matters.
For a very long time, anomalies in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport had been a part of life. In recent years, the most prominent was the “Laglag Bala” to which the Aquino Administration reacted with nonchalance only. PNoy event went on to say that there was no “Laglag Bala” syndicate when almost everyday people, including seniors and those who were very sick, were being apprehended there with bullets in their luggage.
And what did the past administration do about it? Nothing much. Even the talkative congressmen and senators did not do any better.
Another anomalous thing that always happened at the airport is pilferage of bags and other luggage. This has been going on that it has become a reality people had to live with. It happened again last week but this time the complainant persisted. When PDu30 came to know about it, he ordered the termination of the airport’s contract with MIASCOR, the firm which takes care of the handling of the baggage of travelers.
That is what the people want. Instant justice.
So no matter the anti-Duterte talk of the opposition, it appears that the people will still go for the President.
Why? Because the people are tired of political bombast and big talk from politicians. What they want are instant solutions or justice.
So the moral of the story is for politicians to deliver results and not a lot of big talk. Otherwise, they will soon be booted out of office.**
