A week or two ago, came out the results of the latest bar exams. For whatever it is worth, it seems it, and the results of various board exams that periodically come out will not in anyway change our society. Ours will always be a society that is corrupt to the core, as proven again by the flood control projects of the DPWH where its top executives are highly qualified academically with multiple post graduate diplomas. Its late USEC Cabral, for instance, have so many diplomas from supposed to be prestigious universities and yet she proved to be so ignorant about the difference between what is right and wrong. So what did she learn from college, or even high school?
Sorry, that question should be foisted on all of us. What did we learn from spending so many decades in school campuses and earning many diplomas?
And too bad, we still do not try to face that sad question squarely despite how so rotten we have become. So much so that whenever educational issues surface, our automatic reaction is to blame it on lack of money or budget for the educational sector.
Yet, the older generation were a lot more decent and more competent than we were despite their impoverished conditions back then.
All of these mean that there is something basically wrong with our educational system and the earlier we faced the issue squarely, the earlier we might find the solutions.
So first, let us stop blaming our poverty or lack of money and start searching for the right solutions.**
