There is an article in this issue about planting strawberries in Sagada. The venture was learned thru a radio program sponsored by the Department of Agriculture. Apparently, the planters are now doing well in such venture and they market their produce to as far as Metro Manila. As they informed, nothing of their produce is wasted. Whatever they could not sell as fresh strawberries are processed and sold as jam.
They are now in the clear as far as their agribusiness is concerned. Certainly though, the road had not been smooth. This was expected as in any other trailblazing project. Hereinafter are some of our ten cents worth.
How did they become so successful? We are very sure the main factors are industry, tenacity, and resourcefulness. And some luck.
Even if you have the intelligence to run a business if such just stays in your brains without being implemented, then it is useless.
The first requirement for successful implementation is industry which includes hard work. Without the capacity to work hard, your business will just go willy-nilly. Sooner or later it will be called monkey business.
Tenacity is another necessity. A big ingredient of that is determination. Any honest business not based on crime or exploitation of others will require sometime before it gets established and be rolling on its own wheels. To get to that point is never easy. A lot of sacrifices including sweat tears and blood have to be expended. If you are not tenacious enough to stay the course during really difficult times, better abort and say goodbye to your project. Such times do not just entail financial losses but also criticisms and sneers of naysayers. Sometimes those people are the ones you even banked on for support in the beginning.
If you don’t have big money behind you, all you have might just be your resourcefulness. There is a slew of other terms referring to this but the long and short of it is making do with whatever you have in achieving your objective which is business stability. If you just have a fork, then go to the gunfight with that fork.
Lastly, you have to have some luck. What so many don’t understand is luck can be summoned through sincere prayers or the more intense kind, meditations. For this, you must have a positive attitude. You can not just be waiting for luck to fall from heaven. That is called laziness.**
